    Sign-Up Begins at 6:15pm

    SALON is a unique, Multiple Award Winning, Weekly Open Mic Event, created and hosted by Mark Janas that happens at Etcetera, Etcetera – 352 West 44th Street, NYC 10036 every Sunday. It is an ongoing open entertainment event in which singers, writers and musicians share their talent with each other and audience members. There is a $10 cash cover collected at the door and a $20 food/drink minimum (cash or credit) per person. (For more information about Etcetera, Etcetera’s delicious menu: www.etcetcnyc.com. A 20% gratuity is added to all checks.) There are no reservations; seating is on a first come/first served basis, Doors open and sign up begins at 6:15pm. The evening begins at 7:00, has a 15-minute break at 8:30 and ends promptly at 10:00. If you would like to sign up to perform, see one the evening’s ‘Etceterettes’ to fill out a card with your name, the name of your song, whether or not Mark will be playing for you and any upcoming events you’d like to promote. We do not present performers in order of sign-up, however, indicating requests as clearly and as early as possible as far as time restraints are concerned always makes everything much more possible.  ALWAYS BRING SEVERAL SONG SELECTIONS to avoid duplication. All types of material, on or off theme are always welcome at Salon. We enthusiastically welcome instrumentalists, poets, playwrights, essayists, comics, illusionists and performance artists. Please limit your selections to three or four minutes in length (including introductions). Please also bring clear, complete charts for Mark to read. Sitting on the piano is not allowed, nor is flash photography. Please turn off all noise making devices and give performers your undivided attention.

    DARYL GLENN & JO LYNN BURKS SING ROBERT ALTMAN’S “NASHVILLE” is the proud recipient of the New York cabaret “TRIPLE CROWN” (2009 Bistro, MAC and Nitelife Awards). The show features a full, authentic country band and faithfully recreates all of the songs from the soundtrack album of Robert Altman’s 1975 cinematic masterpiece, “Nashville” including Keith Carradine’s Academy Award winning song, “I’m Easy”.
    DARYL GLENN is an award winning performer who has appeared on the stages of New York’s finest and most famous cabaret venues including Don’t Tell Mama, The Triad, Iridium Jazz Club,  The Metropolitan Room and Feinstein’s at the Loews Regency Hotel in his own full length productions. He has also appeared as a guest in shows at The Laurie Beechman Theatre at the West Bank Cafe, The Galapagos Arts Center, The Oak Room at the Algonquin Hotel and the fabulous new 54 Below at Studio 54. Mr. Glenn (with his co-star JO LYNN BURKS) is best known for his “Triple Crown” (MAC, Bistro and Nightllife awards) winning tribute to Robert Altman’s classic 1975 film NASHVILLE, which was Mr. Glenn’s NY cabaret debut and the first ever to win all three coveted awards for a single show. Daryl presented a highly regarded tribute to Stephen Sondheim (DARYL SINGS STEVE-SONGS BY SONDHEIM) at Feinstein’s to honor the year of Mr. Sondheim’s 80th birthday in January of 2010. Mr. Glenn is currently recording his debut cd which will be released in the fall of 2012.

    Jo Lynn Burks now wears many hats as a musical director, orchestrator, singer, and pianist. As a keyboard player and singer, Jo Lynn Burks has toured with Gladys Knight, Lead Singers of the TEMPTATIONS, Leslie Gore, Roger Daltrey of The Who, and many lesser known but GREAT rock and country bands.

    On Broadway, she originated a principal role in Buddy: The Buddy Holly Story. Other Broadway credits include Smokey Joe’s Café, The Full Monty, All Shook Up, The Wedding Singer, The Color Purple, and Hairspray. Jo Lynn’s national tours include Fame, Mamma Mia, Smokey Joe’s Café, Jesus Christ Superstar, Hair, and as a singer/dancer for Fred Waring & The Pennsylvanians.
    As a singer/pianist, Jo Lynn played a prestigious engagement in New York City at The Carlyle., as well as other notable nighteries such as the Waldorf-Astoria, The Plaza, The Ritz-Carlton, and Pat O’Brien’s in New Orleans.
    She recently won three New York Awards: “Nightlife Award”, Backstage Magazine’s “Bistro Award,” and the Manhattan Association of Cabaret Award for her and Daryl Glenn’s show, “Nashville” (containing songs from the Robert Altman film of the same name).
