    Steve Sandberg & Rev. Yolanda

    1:00 am-2:30 am
    Jan/Sun/2017
Metropolitan Room, West 22nd Street, New York, NY, United States

Join three time Emmy nominated composer, Steve Sandberg, and two time MAC Award winner and Blues Hall of Famer Rev. Yolanda as they co-create a Magical Musical Evening together (actually its at 1pm in the afternoon). Steve’s virtuosity on piano will showcase his and Yolanda’s original music mixed with some pieces from classic composers. This will be an afternoon you won’t want to miss.
Steve and Yolanda have known each other for 15 years and have had many experiences together both in the music world as well as spiritual circles. This is their first concert together other than some crazy nights many moons ago in the East Village at the legendary lesbian bar Meow Mix. As well as magical musical moments, Steve and Yolanda will share stories from their NYC adventures in the early days!
    BIOS:
*Steve Sandberg is best known for his music for “Dora the Explorer” and “Go, Diego, Go” . He has toured with David Byrne and Bebel Gilberto as keyboardist and vocalist, composed and musical directed for the New York Shakespeare Festival, and conducted and arranged on Broadway. His current project, “Steve Sandberg & Alaya,” brings together classical and world music with original compositions based on his lifelong love affair with classical piano, Latin music, Brazilian music, Balkan music, r&b and more! He is delighted to collaborate on this show with his longtime friend and co-spiritual-seeker Rev. Yolanda.
*Rev.Yolanda is a singer/songwriter/trans-femme performance artist, and Interfaith Minister who’s work as an Artist and Sacred Activist has been honored as a Blues Hall of Fame award winner, 2 time MAC Award winner, and as a member of The GLBT Hall Of Fame. Rev.Yolanda’s live music ministry is called:
“Rev. Yolanda’s Old Time Gospel Hour”
She describes her music ministry as “A Gender Bending Gospel Celebration for The New Thought Generation”. Taking traditional Gospel sounding melodies, and mixing them with world instrumentation, Rev. Yolanda is creating new gospel songs with lyrics that affirm the God/Goddess within, and embraces the diversity of humankind.
Rev. Yolanda’s Old Time Gospel Hour is also a full feature documentary by Ike Allen of AVAIYA MEDIA – trailer and more info: www.goyolanda.com, or view the movie on AMAZON
