    Willy Falk Mostly Love

    7:00 pm-8:00 pm
    Feb/Sun/2019
570 Tenth Ave 4th Floor inside YOTEL New York, NY 10036

The best songs are about love—playful, passionate, heartbreaking, enduring. Willy Falk: Mostly Love revels in richly-crafted interpretations of songs about love, coupled with stories from a thirty-five-year career on Broadway. He burst on the Broadway scene in Marilyn: An American Fable, a musical which attained cult-like status as one of the greatest flops of all time, but saw Willy receiving a standing ovation every night for his solo number: “You Are So Beyond.” When Miss Saigon first came to Broadway, he was chosen to play leading man Chris, receiving a Tony award nomination alongside Jonathan Pryce and Lea Salonga. Known for his powerful performances in musicals and concerts through the years, this evening speaks of music, memories, and laughter, but mostly…love.

“Falk soared in the vocal inflections of rock so dazzlingly that the audience that had been jeering all night gave him an ovation DURING the music. The applause following the number briefly stopped the show—and after a very short book scene– Falk got another ovation.”
Ethan Mordden, The Last Twenty-Five Years of the Broadway Musical

“We certainly take as many cues from Mr. Falk’s earnestly American, nice-guy aura, and the vigor of his voice, as we do from what he is singing. When he and Miss Salonga come together, the basic laws of biology supplant those of the drama. They look good in each other’s arms, the way movie stars looked good when the studios were masterminding their careers.”
David Richards, The New York Times

“I Can Cook: When Barbara Met Wally”
    February 27 – March 2 at 7pm
    Birdland Theater

Birdland Theater is proud to announce that singer KT Sullivan will perform four very special shows February 27 – March 2 at 7pm.

Barbara Cook’s career was resurrected through a relationship with Wally Harper, who introduced her to the world of cabaret, which opened an amazing second act in what had been a luminous career as an actress and vocalist. A Broadway legend, Ms. Cook found her musical equal in Harper, and he found his muse in her. Then in 1980, a chance introduction to Barbara’s album “It’s Better With A Band” started KT Sullivan, a starry-eyed Oklahoma native on the way to a career in cabaret. In “I Can Cook,” KT pays tribute to both Barbara and Wally, and the amazing journey that began when they met. Featuring “Sing A Song With Me” and “It’s Better With A Band” (both written by Harper) as well as classics arranged by Wally for Barbara such as “Dancing In The Dark,” “Wait Till You See Him,” “Sweet Georgia Brown,” “I Love A Piano,” “Come In From The Rain,” “If Love Were All,” and “I Can Cook.” Eric Michael Gillett directs, and Jon Weber musical directs.
